The first ever complete release of the '68, ‘69 and ’70 sessions on a deluxe, limited edition double 180g vinyl album.

Wallen Bink’s inaugural release on the legendary jazz label, Blue Note, has been created with integrity, passion and the greatest attention to detail. Working with Universal Music, Capitol Records, Michael Cuscuna’s Mosaic and Abbey Road Studios, we have endeavoured to create a product to the highest possible production standards.

This collection of performances, previously unissued in their entirety, drawn from five recording sessions from 24 June , 1968 to Duke’s second-to-last Blue Note session on February 13, 1970, shows both sides of his musical nature. On one hand, Andy Bey is belting out a backbeat-driven Buddy Johnson tune. On the other, Duke is scoring Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell’s haunting Canto Ossanha for alto flute and alto clarinet. From October, 1969, on his own Xibaba (Brazilian slang for marijuana), Airto Moreira is wailing with both his voice and hands. Soul music from another part of the world.

Includes performances by Duke Pearson on piano; Airto Moreira on percussion, drums and vocals; Bobby Hutcherson on vibes; Andy Bey on vocals; Flora Purim on vocals; Frank Foster on tenor sax; Jerry Dodgion on alto sax and flute; Ron Carter on bass, Mickey Roker on drums and others.

This Duke Pearson album was previously partially released by Capitol in 1996 under the title ‘I Don’t Care Who Knows It’ as six tracks on a single LP. This new release features 12 tracks over two LPs, released together for the first time, with tracks taken from five recording sessions from 1968 to 1970. It features, amongst others, Bobby Hutcherson, Andy Bey, Flora Purim and Airto Moreira.

This issue has been mastered 'All Analogue' from Van Gelder 1/4" tapes and housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring previously unpublished session photography.
