Usually Bossa Nova is associated with Stan Getz but it was truly the initiative of Charlie Byrd that introduced Bossa Nova to the American public. Byrd returned in 1961 from a South American tour where Bossa Nova music was growing from the creations of João Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim that sounded like and adaptation of Brazilian Samba to the cool style of West Coast Jazz. It was quite simple, Byrd brought some records for Getz to hear and soon they planned a session that resulted in Jazz Samba, the first album of true Bossa Nova played by jazz musicians and the one that definitely opened the door for the Bossa Nova wave of the 60's in America and for the World.

As with all the Verve reissues mastered by George Marino for Analogue Productions, the sound is quite impressive, with the perfect balance of resolution, clarity, life like dynamics and tonal accuracy. This reissue program was a true labor of love for the late George Marino and it shows on every single second of the music you'll hear from this treasure of sonic beauty. Very highly recommended, some of the best music you'll ever hear, with audiophile mastering to the highest technical standards.
