One Of The Most Memorable and Important Soundtracks in Movie History! The Music is Beautiful, Poignant, Exciting and Mysterious! Mostly Dark, Melodic Combination of Classical Compositions & Synthesizers!

The BLADE RUNNER soundtrack was composed by Vangelis for Ridley Scott's 1982 film considered one of the finest sci-fi movies ever made. It is mostly a dark, melodic combination of classical compositions and synthesizers which mirrors the futuristic film noir envisioned by Scott. The soundtrack holds legendary status and at the time was well-received by fans and critics including Best Original Score nominations for a BAFTA and Golden Globe yet, except for a few cuts, it was not released until 1994.

The movie remains a classic film with a long list of popular movie stars including Harrison Ford, Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos most of whom appear on this record in movie dialog samples mixed into the 12 tracks of nearly one hour of music. Vangelis makes each track flow into one another. The soundtrack features vocal contributions from Demis Roussos and the sax solo by Dick Morrissey on "Love Theme." The gatefold jacket includes many colorful stills from the film. BLADE RUNNER is a timeless classic on film and now on 180g transparent red vinyl. Kevin Gray, who mastered the album, is raving about the sound quality. The sound and the look and the history are spectacular. Here's one for the audiophiles, the collectors and the sci-fi fans.

Vangelis is a world-renowned Greek composer, keyboardist, and multi-instrumentalist. He mainly composes instrumental and film music and he performs all the music by himself. During his career he has flirted with many genres and his music proved to be very hard to categorize. His music has been filed as "synthesizer music", "electronic music", "new age", "progressive rock", "symphonic rock", "space music", "electronic music", etc. etc. None of those terms is spot on and his output is too varied to catch in one word. In 1970 Vangelis started a solo career. In 1975 he moved to London where he set up his legendary Nemo studio that he used to record many of his famous albums and soundtracks. Most legendary are perhaps the Oscar winning score to "Chariots of Fire" and of course, the ever popular score to Ridley Scott's landmark film "Blade Runner".

"By subtly interspersing clips of dialogue and sounds from the film, Vangelis creates haunting soundscapes with whispered subtexts and sweeping revelations, drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern textures and evoking neo-classical structures. Often cold and forlorn, the listener can almost hear the indifferent winds blowing through the neon and metal cityscapes of Los Angeles in 2019. The sultry, saxophone-driven "Love Theme" has since gone on as one of the composer's most recognized pieces and stands alone as one of the few warm refuges on an otherwise darkly cold (but beautiful) score." - Zac Johnson, All Music

"As a physical object, the album is a lovely thing. The jacket’s front is a heavy, glossy, beautifully rendered full-color reproduction of the artwork seen first on the CD. The back of the gatefold carries the same art as the back of the CD. Inside, all but two of the photos found in the CD’s booklet are duplicated, and the missing photos are used for the record labels. Neat!" - Guy Lemcoe, The Audio Beat (4.5 out of 5 Music, 4.5 out of 5 Sound)

"Audio Fidelity has hit the ball out of the park with this vinyl release of the original Vangelis soundtrack... When the stylus finally hit the groove for the first time, I heard dead quiet and then the slow, deep, ethereal synthesized drone setting the stage for Harrison Ford’s voice. From that point on I knew I was in for a ride into the magical world of Vangelis’s soundscapes, the music ebbing and flowing in and around the various melodies etched into my memories of the movie itself... The soundstage was deep and suspended behind the speakers... Where this recording excels is in the bass, which was awesome in its impact and truly subterranean in spots... The mids were spot on, with beautiful rendering of the voices and saxophone... The treble was airy and fast, just what‘s needed for music with a lot of percussion effects. Check out the cymbal crash on side one. It had impact and sounded like hammered brass as it shimmered in its own cushion of air." - Guy Lemcoe, The Audio Beat

"Vangelis's synthesizer soundtrack moves appropriately from bombast to heartbreak, while mostly remaining cool (if not icy) and detached... Overall this soundtrack's creativity and innovation hold up remarkably well 30 plus years later... Side two combines moody atmospherics, synth bombast and synth bass that will shake your room if your system goes very low. Dynamics are wide, soundstages, expansive and deep... This is a sonic spectacular. For fans of the movie, this kind of soundtrack listened to in the dark can effectively conjure up movie scenes and produce other-worldly 'theater of the mind' images. For everyone else, it's just a more abstract kind of emotional evocation." - Michael Fremer, Analog Planet (8/10 Music, 9/10 Sound)
